A who’s who of the Australian aesthetic industry converged on the beautiful Gold Coast for the 7th annual Non-Surgical Symposium (NSS) last weekend and as the most anticipated non-surgical conference of the year it didn’t disappoint.

Apart from the spectacular weather, this annual sold-out event supported by the Australasian Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons (ASAPS); Australasian Society of Cosmetic Dermatologists (ASCD); Cosmetic Physicians College of Australasia (CPCA), endorsed by the New Zealand Society of Cosmetic Medicine and Event Managed by The Production House Events (TPHE), was jam-packed with awesome and highly acclaimed national and international speakers.
Plastic surgeons, doctors, nurses, dermatologists, therapists, practice and clinic staff, industry device company representatives and media took advantage of the stellar line up to hear about the latest treatments, techniques, devices and trends in one of the most exciting and progressive industries in the world. Consumers can rest assured that their practitioners are continuously learning and looking outside the square to get the best results for their patients!
Patient safety was also high on the agenda with a spectacular lineup of local and international visiting speakers. South African Dermatologist Dr Izolda Heydenrych shared her 15 Point Plan for Staying Safe with Fillers (OMG, wow!), and so many more mind-blowing advancements. There were sessions on filler dangers and toxin complications, scars, lasers, non-surgical nose augmentation, trends, face and body shaping, and a whole lot more. Once again, this highlighted the importance of your practitioners knowledge and training, and reinforcing that the NSS should be a must-attend for those performing non-surgical procedures in their practice. #patientsafetyfirst #choosewisely – yeah the best mantra for your aesthetic journey.
Another take-away was the “what’s hot” for the guys, and the aesthetic treatments that todays fit, active, modern man is having. It is now not just socially acceptable but almost expected that men look after themselves and their appearance – you only have to look at a couple of the most desired manly looking men – Brad Pitt and David Beckham. These two are considered amongst the most handsome men in the world, and there’s reason for it, the shape of their face, the angle of their jaw, and the way they carry themselves. Both these men have admitted to having some non-surgical treatments which has no doubt led to an increase in male specific procedures and treatments – hasn’t everyone heard of Brotox?
I loved motivational speaker Simon Reynolds’ workshop. This was so inspiring and reminded me of why I started Plastic Surgery Hub and where I want it to go. I have had an “injection” of enthusiasm to keep pushing towards reaching my goals, and that’s what I love about the NSS – it has something for everyone.
The opportunity to network and catch up with old friends and make new ones is always a treat and the NSS social agenda was impressive as always. I also got to interview some great speakers and industry reps and will be bringing you those in the form of videos, blogs and podcasts.
