The Australasian Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons (ASAPS), Cosmetic Physicians College of Australasia (CPCA), the Australasian Society of Cosmetic Dermatologists (ASCD), and the New Zealand Society of Cosmetic Medicine (NZSCM) invite you to join them at what is undoubtedly the premier educational event for non-surgical aesthetics in Australasia – the 2017 Non-Surgical Symposium, 23 to 25 June at the Gold Coast Convention and Exhibition Centre.
For the first time this year we are excited to welcome members of the ASCD as official partners of the meeting. This is a multidisciplinary field and to combine all of the key elements into the one symposium is what gives this meeting its vibrant feel and outstanding program.

The meeting continues to grow and both the 2015 NSS and 2016 NSS in Melbourne were sold out.
This year we move to the Gold Coast and our focus will be Safety and Science.
The doors will be opened to all medical practitioners performing non-surgical rejuvenation and their staff. We will be welcoming plastic surgeons, dermatologists, cosmetic doctors and other doctors performing medical aesthetic treatments. We will also welcome your staff as well including the nurse aestheticians, dermal therapists and practice staff.
The primary ingredient ensuring ongoing value and relevance is unchanged: independent presentations by a long list of international and leading local presenters on state of the art concepts and practice in the non-surgical rejuvenation sector.
W H A T W I L L W E C O V E R ?
The Non-Surgical Symposium will again cover the entire spectrum on appearance medicine, from injectables, through to skin care, including laser/light devices and non-surgical body contouring tools. A lot has happened in the last year to bring you up to speed on.
We have an extraordinary array of speakers many who haven’t been to Australian meeting previously. We are going to work hard to make our program interactive, focus on expert discussions. In 2016 we introduced video injecting (rather than live injecting), so that we can make the process more efficient with better images and a more interactive learning experience.
A N A T O M I C A L D I S S E C T I O N A N D L I V E I N J E C T I N G W O R K S H O P
On the day prior to the Symposium, Thursday June 22, ASAPS will run the Anatomical Dissection and Live Injecting Workshop (additional fees apply).
There will be a lecture program on the anatomical changes of ageing and how this affects facial aesthetics and guides treatment selection. The workshop will have a combination of anatomical dissection and live injecting, and the program is modified each year according to feedback.
Introduced last year, we demonstrated retrobulbar injections in the anatomical dissections.
We will again use the keynote presenters from the Non-Surgical Symposium as guest faculty for the workshop in both the anatomy and injecting areas alongside our local experts. Visit www.asapsevents.org.au for more information.
Science is our focus but let’s not forget the networking and the social program of the Non-Surgical Symposium. The Gala dinner will be more laid back than last years black tie gala but will retain all the bells, whistles, and glowing gloves that we have come to both love and expect.

Jay Burns
Dr. A. Jay Burns has his private practice in Dallas as a partner in Dallas Plastic Surgery Institute. He graduated from Baylor University magna cum laude and was honored as Outstanding Junior Alumni of Baylor University in 1994. Dr. Burns graduated with honors (AOA) from the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School in Dallas. He completed an internship and residency in general surgery at the University of Utah Affiliated Hospitals in Salt Lake City followed by a residency in plastic surgery at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School. He then went on to complete specialty training in vascular anomalies and birthmarks at Harvard Affiliated Hospitals. He is board certified in plastic and reconstructive surgery. Dr. Burns is a noted national and international authority on lasers and cosmetic surgery, vascular anomalies, and birthmarks.
Dr. Burns is a past President of the American Society for Laser Medicine and Surgery. Dr. Burns is also a member of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery, Inc., and the American Association of Plastic Surgeons. He has been a national spokesperson for both societies and served as Traveling Professor for the Aesthetic Society for the years 2001 to 2003. He has been voted numerous times by his peers to both D Magazine’s “Best Doctors” and Texas Monthly’s “Texas Super Doctors”. He was featured on the Oprah Winfrey “Medical Miracles” show. Dr. Burns and his wife of 38 years, Ginny, have two children, and two grandchildren. They are committed to their faith in Jesus Christ and their family. They founded the Prodigal ministry, which serves families who are struggling with addiction and rebellion.
Gabriela Casabona
Dr Gabriela Casabona is a dermatologist practicing in Brazil. She has dedicated the first 10 years of her career to mastering cosmetic rejuvenation of both the face and body. She then traveled to the USA to serve a variety of externships with experts in various procedures and technologies. Dr Casabona had spent a great deal of her time as a collaborator in the Laser department of Universidade ABC- Brazil. Since 2010, Dr Casabona shifted her career to more the surgical side. She spent much of the last 5 years in many training programs in the USA, Latin America and Europe furthering her expertise in skin cancer surgery, Mohs surgery, and honing her reconstruction skills (especially oculoplastics). She is also trained in cosmetic surgery including, fat grafting, endoscopic browlifting and blepharoplasty.
For 15 Years Dr Casabona has built her own clinic where 85% of her patients are cosmetic, mainly fillers, botulinum toxin combined with technology treatments and the newest generation of thread lifting procedures. The other 15% are surgical patients (cosmetic and oncology). Dr Casabona is presently an International Speaker for Allergan Medical, Merz Medical, and also Medical consultant and Speaker for Mesoestetic Spain.
Vandana Chatrath
Dr. Chatrath is a graduate from Lady Hardinge Medical College, New Delhi , India and has done her dermatology training from Boston University. She has also done her fellowship in dermatologic surgery, lasers and cosmetic procedures like Botox, fillers from Boston University. She has been in private practice in Delhi as part of Delhi Dermatology Group since the past 14 years. She has published many papers in eminent journals and written a chapter for a pediatric and Cosmetology textbook and World Clinics issue on Acne. She has lectured on topics pertaining to clinical as well as procedural dermatology in many national and international conferences. Her special areas of interest include pigmentary disorders and facial Aesthetics in Asians.
Steven Fagien
Dr Steven Fagien is in private surgical practice in Boca Raton, Florida. He earned his medical degree and completed his residency in ophthalmology from the University of Florida College of Medicine in Gainesville, Florida, and completed a fellowship in ophthalmic plastic and reconstructive surgery at the University of Illinois Eye and Ear Infirmary in Chicago, Illinois.
In addition to his extensive organizational and volunteer involvement, Dr Fagien is a member of numerous professional organizations that span the specialties, including the American Society of Ophthalmic Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, the American Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery, and the American Society of Dermatological Surgeons. His areas of expertise are in aesthetic eyelid plastic surgery, advanced applications of BOTOX® for facial aesthetic enhancement, and various forms of injectable soft tissue augmentation agents.
Dr Fagien has more than 30 years of experience with Botulinum toxin type A, and pioneered, instituted and instructs courses on the various uses of BOTOX® as well as injectable filling agents in facial aesthetics, for esteemed societies such as the American Society of Plastic Surgery and the American Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery. He continues to participate in FDA- and investigator-initiated clinical trials using Botulinum toxin type A for expanded application in facial aesthetics along with a host of hyaluronic acid products and other injectable soft-tissue filling and rejuvenation agents. He was also a pioneer in the use of injectable soft tissue augmentation dermal matrix agents and was the founder of Collagenesis, Inc, and co-developer of injectable autologous and allogeneic human tissue collagen matrices (Autologen® and Dermalogen®) and an allogeneic surgically implantable human collagen matrix (Dermaplant®). He also serves as a consultant and is a member of the medical advisory board to many of the world’s largest industry producers and distributors of injectable agents and plastic surgery products/devices as well as many multi-specialty advisory/consensus groups.
Dr Fagien has edited, authored, or contributed to more than 350 articles, abstracts, book chapters, and texts (including his latest text; the fourth edition of Putterman’s Cosmetic Oculoplastic Surgery. Elsevier Publishers 2008) and has made more than 500 presentations nationally and internationally. He is an associate editor for the prestigious Journal of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery. He has been profiled in numerous publications, including Allure, W, Vogue, New Beauty, OK, Tattler, and More, as well as Best Doctors in America. Recently, Dr Fagien was named one of W magazine’s world’s best plastic surgeons specializing in eyelids and as one of the nation’s best eyelid plastic surgeons by More magazine and The New York Times.
Julius Few
Dr. Few is the architect of the Continuum of Beauty™, a life-long aesthetic approach to achieving natural-looking results by strategically blending cutting-edge surgical and nonsurgical treatments. A proponent of preserving individuality and enhancing nature through surgery and treatments, he believes that outcomes should be patient driven and result in natural-looking enhancements.

Dr. Few received his medical degree from the University Of Chicago Pritzker School Of Medicine and completed his residency in general surgery at the University of Michigan Medical Center, followed by plastic surgery training at Northwestern University. In addition, Dr. Few received special facial and eye cosmetic training in Honolulu, New York and Atlanta.
Dr. Few serves as a Clinical Professor for the Division of Plastic Surgery at the University of Chicago and Director of the Cosmetic Rotation. He is on staff at Northwestern University, where he is a Health Systems Clinician. In addition, he is a past president of the Illinois Society of Plastic Surgeons.
Benoit Hendrickx
Prof. Dr. Benoit Hendrickx graduated summa cum laude in medicine at the University of Leuven in Belgium in 2004. In Belgium and the UK he trained in plastic, reconstructive and aesthetic surgery, a degree he obtained in 2011. He further specialized for two years in reconstructive microsurgery at the Queen Victoria Hospital in East Grinstead, Sussex, UK and in aesthetic surgery at the McIndoe Surgical Centre in Sussex, UK and at the prestigious Melbourne Institute of Plastic Surgery in Melbourne, Australia, where he had the honour to join many world famous plastic surgeons. Meanwhile, he also obtained a PhD in biomedical sciences on the application of human blood derived progenitor cells in wound healing and skin tissue engineering.
From 2013 on, he combines a consultant position in plastic surgery at the Brussels University Hospital (UZ Brussel) with a private practice in Knokke, Belgium. His focus is on breast and body contouring surgery, as well as facial surgical and non-surgical aesthetics. He is the author of many scientific and clinical publications and developed a profound interest in facial anatomy and injectables. He is organizer of the yearly held ISAPS facial anatomy fresh cadaver dissection course in Liège, Belgium and organizer of the 2016 EURAPS Research Council and the 2016 European Plastic Surgery Research Council.
Prof. Dr. Hendrickx is a board member of the Royal Belgian Society of Plastic Surgery (RBSPS), a member of the International Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons (ISAPS) and the American Association of Plastic Surgeons (AAPS) and associate editor of the Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery-Global Open journal (PRS-GO).
Patricia Ogilvie
Dr. Patricia Ogilvie graduated in medicine at the University of Wuerzburg , Germany with an MD thesis in clinical biochemistry. After the internship in Dermatology at universities in Germany and Switzerland, she became a post-doc research fellow of the German Research Foundation and spent several years in the field of immunology and cell signaling at international research institutions. She received the German board certification for Dermatology and Allergology in 2003. 2004 she founded Skin Concept Munich, 2 private clinics for Dermatology and Laser medicine in Munich, Germany. Dr. Ogilvie is an international speaker and trainer for Botolinum toxin and injectable fillers, a principal investigator in clinical trials, and the author of numerous scientific papers in biochemistry, immunology, clinical dermatology, and esthetic medicine.
Nowell Solish
Dr. Nowell Solish, M.D., FRCP (C), graduated as a dermatologist from the University of Toronto, and subsequently specialized in surgical dermatology, training at the University of Toronto and the University of British Columbia. During this time, Dr. Solish focused on cosmetic and skin cancer dermatologic surgery.
Today, Dr. Solish is a recognized specialist in the field of cosmetic dermatology and dermatologic surgery. Dr. Solish is well known for his work with Botox and the cosmetic injectables.
Dr. Solish is an Assistant Professor at The University of Toronto, as well as the co-director of the Non-Melanoma Skin Cancer clinic at Women’s College. He is the past president of The Canadian Society of Dermatologic surgery and a founding board member of the International Hyperhidrosis Society. He is a member of the American and Canadian Societies for Dermatology and Dermatologic Surgery.
Academically, he is the director of Dermatologic surgery at the University of Toronto. He is also published in peer-reviewed journals, and lectures regularly on dermatologic surgery techniques at local, national and international medical meetings. Dr. Solish is also a widely quoted media spokesperson on issues of surgical and cosmetic dermatology. His interviews include appearances on ABC news, CBC news, Global Television, The National,

Rodrigo Ferraz
Dr Ferraz is a Brazilian board certified Dermatologist. He graduated medical school in 1999 from Federal University of Minas Gerais (UFMG), followed by Internal Medicine Residency at FHEMIG, and Dermatology Residency at State University of Rio de Janeiro (UERJ). He has been in private practice since 2004 where he performs clinical, surgical and cosmetic dermatology, using he wide experience with Restylane, Emervel, Restylane Skinboosters and Dysport.
Dr Ferraz has an extensive practice in training other doctors with advanced filler and toxin techniques, and is a key expert trainer for Galderma. He is a Fellow in Dermatologic Surgery (UFMG) and Fellow in Cosmetic Dermatology (Boston University). He is also a Member of the Member of the Brazilian Society of Dermatology (SBD), Brazilian Society of Dermatologic Surgery (SBCD) and American Society of Dermatology (AAD).

I would like to introduce the international key opinion leaders and also draw attention to our regular local contributors by highlighting their participation in the meeting with just a couple of titles that each has submitted. Cancellation Policy
Important Registration Cancellation Deadlines
| Registration cancellations received up to 2nd May 2017 will receive a full refund, less $300.00 administration fee. No refunds will be given for registration cancellations received after 2nd May 2017. As an alternative to cancellation, registrations may be transferred to another person (for the same registration category) before 18th May 2017 without receiving any extra cost penalty.
All fees are in Australian dollars inclusive of GST. The members of the ASAPS Council, CPCA Board and The Production House Events do not accept any liability for any losses incurred pre, post or during the Symposium due to unforeseen cancellation or postponement. In the event of the Symposium being cancelled, no refunds will be issued. All available funds will be credited towards a future symposium/s held by ASAPS and CPCA. Registration fee does not include accommodation, meals for partners and extra tickets for the Welcome Reception and Gala Dinner. Practice staff are dermal therapists and management staff performing non-surgical procedures. All practice nurses and staff must have their registrations verified by a doctor. Registration will only be confirmed upon receipt of verification. Registration costs at the time of Practice Nurses and Staff initial registration will be honoured regardless of the date of the Doctor’s verification.
