NSS ORATION
Disruptive Technologies and the Future of Healthcare
“Any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic.” – Arthur C. Clarke
Technology, which used to be thought of as something to be outsourced, or a sector on its own, is now a strategic layer across all aspects of our world. How do you make sense of the radical changes we’re all feeling? Join bioinformatician and cancer researcher Tane Hunter, and political economist Dr Angus Hervey for a tour across the frontiers of what’s happening on the frontiers of medicine and biotechnology. AI, machine learning, genetics, CRISPR+, microbiome analysis, new medical diagnostics, precision medicine, neuroscience and brain-machine interfacing are redefining the healthcare industry. Medical professionals are on the frontlines of these changes, and it’s crucial they remain up to date to feed their knowledge to the wider community.
This talk will dive into new ideas about how healthcare practitioners can prepare for change, and take advantage of a dazzling array of new opportunities as technology transforms every aspect of the world in which we live, work and play.
